Die forschungsleitende Frage dabei war, von welchen Praktiken der Aneignung von Raum meine Interviewpartner*innen erzählen und welche Bedeutung sie diesen zuschreiben. Basis der Auseinandersetzung waren die lebensgeschichtlichen Interviews, die ich mit zwei langjährigen Bewohner*innen der Siedlung geführt habe. Eric Beiza Palestro, der als Jugendlicher aus Chile nach Österreich flüchtete lebte mit kurzen Unterbrechungen von 1975 bis 2009 in der Siedlung, Anna Blaha flüchtete aus der ČSSR nach Österreich und lebt seit den 1980er Jahren vor Ort. Meine Interviewpartner*innen erzählten von vielfältigen Praktiken der Aneignung von Raum in der Siedlung, sowohl auf sprachlicher, als auch physischer Ebene. Sie gaben der Siedlung, ihren Straßen und Plätzen Namen, legten Kleingärten an, errichteten einen Fußballplatz, gründeten eine eigene Mannschaft, und organisierten große Feste vor Ort. Interventionen von außen durch Akteur*innen aus Politik, Verwaltung und Zivilgesellschaft, die sich auf die Nutzung und Aneignung von Raum, sowie auf das Zusammenleben in der Siedlung auswirkten, bewerteten sie vor allem danach, ob die Bewohner*innen der Siedlung in Entscheidungs- und Umsetzungsprozesse inkludiert wurden. ; Based on oral history interviews, this master thesis deals with the refugee settlement founded in a former military base in 1957 in Kaiserebersdorf, on the edge of the city of Vienna. The analysis is based on interviews I conducted with two longstanding tenants. Eric Beiza Palestro fled from Chile to Austria and lived in the settlement from 1975 to 2009 with short intermittances, Anna Blaha came to Austria from the ČSSR and lives in the settlement since the 1980s. Guiding my research was the question, which practices of spatial appropriaton my interview partners narrate and how they deem these significant to their life stories. Anna Blaha and Eric Beiza Palestro mention a variety of practices of spatial appropriation on a verbal and physical level. The tenants of the former military base came up with their own names for the settlements, its squares and streets. They created gardens, built a soccer field, founded their own team and organized large festivities. In their narrations Anna Blaha and Eric Beiza Palestro also refer to external interventions into the settlement by political institutions, the settlements management and civil society, shaping the use and appropriation of space there. They evaluate these interventions according to whether they allowed the tenants to participate in the making and implementing of decisions.
